Many women have difficulty locating the appropriate shoe due to the size of their feet. Some petite women have rather small feet which make it hard for them to find shoes small enough to provide them with the proper fit. Shoe manufacturers do not specifically make petite shoes as they do petite womens clothing. Some women’s stores do feature some shoes that will fit petite women. However, these shoe choices are quite limited and do not permit petite women to take advantage of some design trends.

For many petite women, finding the correct width of shoe is the difficulty. Even if you find the correct width, many women’s shoes do not stock very many pairs of shoes in a particular style that are small sizes. If you find a shoe you want and the width works, check with the salesperson. Many times they can specially order the smaller size for you. They just don’t keep them in stock as many times they simply are not purchased. Most stores will simply charge you for the shoe prior to ordering or they may just require a small deposit be placed for the shoe. The full amount is then paid when the shoes arrive in the store.

Online shopping has made it easier for some petite women to find the proper shoe sizes. The internet has given women to access to even more locations from which to purchase shoes. With this expanded availability, it makes it easier to find just the correct shoe. Petite women often find a shoe shop that is not local but stocks many smaller sizes. For some women, this is the more effective option of purchasing smaller shoes for petite feet. Some sites even pride themselves on catering to small feet. The only drawback with online shopping is that you cannot try them on prior to purchase. However, for many women the increased variety is enough of a lure to offset this disadvantage. Make sure you know the shop’s return policies prior to purchase. You don’t want to be stuck with a pair of shoes that do not fit your foot properly.
